Sustainability & ethics

We are not aiming to be only another brand. We want to be different, and we’re proud to work slowly and with intention. We do everything we can to keep our impact conscious, sustainable, and true to FORESTA’s core values — values rooted in environmental consideration, ethical production, and timeless design. Listed below are the steps we take that help us stay true to these values, and we are grateful to be able to invest in the kinds of production methods and materials we hope to see more of in the future.

Organic Materials

Our woods are cultivated without fertilizers or chemical pesticides, organically grown on reforested lands in Honduras. The story of each tree lives in the grain of our products — forever preserved in the wood’s markings and colors.

Local Production

Our products are made in Honduras, from woods grown organically in the surrounding tropical plantations. Working locally not only allows us to support small businesses, but also reduces our CO2 emissions through scaled back transportation.

Slow Manufacturing

Our manufacturing process is slow and respectful to the pace of the craftsmen and craftswomen we work with. Each piece takes between four and six months to complete and all work is done carefully by hand at one small workshop.

Fair-trade

Our designs are produced in small batches, challenging industrial production trends and stressful working environments. We pay our artisans the same fair price for each item — regardless if they are producing five or fifty pieces.

Timeless Designs

We produce simple designs that will outlast trends, putting the focus on natural materials. Timelessness as a form of sustainability is a guiding principle to all of our products, and this is why our designs connect well to the aesthetic values of minimalism.

Enduring Quality

We support a more conscious way of consuming — buying less and investing in products with longevity. We focus on creating high quality, flexible furniture and accessories that can be styled in the homes of most people, and passed down through generations.
